Ingunn brings both traditional Norwegian folkmusic and music from her lates CD - Ingunn Bjorgo Band ‘Borderland’. Folk musician and songwriter, born in Asker, (near Oslo) Norway, in 1973 Ingunn Bjørgo plays the accordion and the two-row accordion, and her repertoire consists of both traditional and contemporary tunes.
She also writes instrumental arrangements for traditional folkdance tunes. She composes much of the music she plays, and her polkas ‘Mester Hanevold’ and ‘Usving’ are popular on radio and television. She often conducts courses in Norway and abroad, and founded Asker Spell og Danselag, a folk music and folk-dance organisation, in her home area.
Bjørgo has a background in classical music. Among her sources of inspiration are the Irish musician Sharon Shannon, Norwegian Annbjørg Lien, and various fiddlers from Valdres, Gudbrandsdalen and Østerdalen.
She has won Norwegian championships in both accordion and two-row accordion, and serves as a jury member for music competitions. Her solo recording Skapdøl med bysko was released in 2003, and notation for the tunes on this recording is available in book form. Bjørgo plays in the folk-dance band AskerLadden (formed in 1997) and in Ingunn Bjørgo Band (formed in 2006), whose first CD was released in the spring of 2007.
Bjørgo Band´s CD is a collaboration with Swedish musician Roger Tallroth, well-known member of the band Väsen.
